Dog Sitting

Pet sitting (or pet watching) is paying someone a fee for watching your pet while away. Pet sitting is becoming more popular as more pet owners become knowledgeable of the service. Utilizing certified pet sitters can help relieve your stress because you know your pet is not alone and with someone who cares about pets as much as you do.

- Going on vacation?
- Work long hours?
- Family emergency must take you out of town?
- Concerned about your pet while you are away? You should be!

Maybe you need a pet sitter
- Do you need your pet to be walked a few times a day?
- Does your pet need medications at noon?

Pet owners once had limited care options for their animals when away from home. Not any more. Today, they can turn to in-home professionals for all their pet sitting needs. Today there are a lot of options in your area. Search the Internet for a service near you!

Become a pet sitter!

Professional pet-sitting is one of the fastest-growing, home-based businesses around. This valuable, pet-care service is in huge demand. In-home pet care provides a proven opportunity for entrepreneurs who love working with and caring for companion animals.

Get Certified:

Certification acknowledges the pet sitter is a serious professional who has obtained a high level of expertise through personal study by completing a course of study in pet care, health, nutrition and behavior, as well as, business development and management, and a complete pet first aid course.

Pet sitting is strictly an animal-lovers only profession. Pet sitting requires a lot of love and patience. Some days you might be walking a client’s dogs in the pouring rain, in cold wintery weather, and very hot days. These days may not be easy but in the end, pet sitting can be a very rewarding profession.

Be Prepared:

You should create a contract. Spell out everything very clearly including what services you will provide, at what time increments and at what price.
- Will you provide services at your home or will you go to the client’s home?
- Administer medications?
- Are there any sorts of pets that you will not service? Pit bulls? Snakes?
- How can clients reach you? Home phone, cell phone, e-mail, Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn?
- List the name and telephone of your insurance company.
- Provide a mission statement: why are you a pet-sitter?
- Provide a walk?
- What areas in town will you service?
- What sort of notice do you need? A day, a week?
- Where will the client's house keys be stored? In a locked safe?
- Will you provide feedings?
- Your pet information form: Some information you may wish to ask; ask for veterinarian information, emergency contact phone numbers, any behavioral issues, allergies, type of pet food, number of feedings, medical conditions.
